Certain microscopes are more suitable for use with manipulators
- Inverted microscopes, which have fixed stages (i.e. the stage does not
go up and down when focusing).
- Fixed stage up right microscopes. Normally biological microscopes focus
by moving the stage up and down. This means that, unless the manipulators
are attached to the stage, the specimen moves in relation to the specimen
when focusing. To overcome this there are special microscopes, with a fixed
height stage and where the objective moves, for focusing.
